Paris is home to some of the most infamous fashion houses in the world. There are lines of girls outside of Christian Louboutin waiting to score their first pair of the 'red bottoms' in the designers hometown. There are lines of women looking for vintage Chanel frames and Hermes wallets at thrift stores all around Paris. Aside from the amazing haute couture, Europe also is home to fast fashion brands that offer tailored, trendy looks at much more affordable prices.
In Paris, some of my favorite places to go (aside from Zara-which is everywhere in NYC) are:
1. Mark and Spencer. I love Mark and Spencer. The place is very well organized with work appropriate attire and casual separates for the everyday woman. It is a little bit pricey when compared to H&M but the quality is far better. It is a bit like Zara in the cuts but offer shoes that are far less trendy than Zara.
2. Pimke. Pimke is another great store that is a bit more junior than Mark & Spencer. The clothes are a lot more trendy with some graphic t-shirts and ironic messaging. The store has some very affordable and traditional clothes amongst the mainly trendy items. When I went they had a very sizeable sales rack and a lot of cool cheap sandals that could transition from spring to summer.
3. Stradivarius. One of my favorite trendy spots that I love to go in Europe is Stradivarius. They are owned by Inditex which is the same company that owns Zara. The clothes are as streamlined, as tailored, and as affordable as those from Zara. The clothes are slightly more affordable and a bit more casual. And like Zara, there are lots of Stradivarius's around town!
